- Mystery, horror, science fiction, fantasy (but I'll read any genre as long as it's well-written)
- Weird metatextual stuff like House of Leaves
- War stories about sad depressed soldiers
- Film-noir-type detectives who are pathetic and terrible at their jobs
- Queer representation is a bonus
- Graphic novels and short story collections are good too
- I'm fine with some pretty dark and disturbing content if it's part of a good story
Stuff I'm Less Interested In
(but will still try if it comes highly recommended)
- Heterosexual romance as the primary genre of a work (but obviously as a subplot is fine or else I'd barely read anything)
- YA or anything else aimed at teenagers (I'm a fair bit older than the target audience so it's usually not my thing unless it's really good)
- Anything that's only ever been published digitally (I strongly prefer reading physical books)
